JoAnne has just born to be a teacher. She taught at Riverview Elementary in Durango 9-R back in the 80’s and 90’s for 20 years then became a teacher-trainer and curriculum developer at the District office for 11 more. After retiring in 2010, she became an educational consultant and in 2012, a mindfulness instructor with her own mindfulness business, On-Point Mindfulness. She introduced mindfulness instruction into the 9-R schools, and has to date trained hundreds of teachers, principals, kids, parents, families, and non-profits in the Four Corners region. She has also taught at Fort Lewis in the Teacher Education Department and is currently an instructor for Adams State University.
JoAnne has her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Assessment with an emphasis on Literacy from Lesley University in Massachusetts and has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards at the state and local level for leadership and teaching innovation. Her fun and interesting classes have always received enthusiastic reviews.
JoAnne has been married to her husband Ken for 38 years, has two grown sons and four beloved pets. She loves to teach, hike, camp, write, and just “be”.
