Ever wonder how a leader goes about influencing others? Many articles and research out there shows this skillset and it is important to understand the impact you have as a leader. The way we communicate, behave, feel and share our ideas and visions with the team can make a positive impact, or sometimes not. Our perceptions and interpretations of situations can help move us forward or literally become our blocks. We also tend to forget that our team can have a huge influence on us as a leader. Check out this great video with Derek Sivers http://www.ted.com/talks/derek_sivers_how_to_start_a_movement explaining how a leader literally becomes a leader by having just one follower. http://www.ted.com/talks/derek_sivers_how_to_start_a_movement We don't seem to have the language for how our team influences us besides being open-minded and listening to others' suggestions. As you think about influencing others, be sure to take time to think about not only how you impact your team but how you realize the extent that you are willing to have someone influence you and how transparent you are towards others who may have influence on you. This two way street can teach us many ways to be a more effective leader. https://hbr.org/2016/08/how-leaders-can-help-others-influence-them To learn more, sign up for our 'Influencing Others' class coming up this week Thursday Sept 1, 8AM-Noon - enroll here http://durangolearns.com/event/influencing-others/
