Central Europe is quickly becoming one of the most desirable destinations to visit in Europe. In the past 150 years, these countries have survived political and suppressive regimes such as the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, the Nazi and Holocaust horrors, and the not so distant Communist oppression. Despite these turbulences, these very distinct countries have kept their cultural and historical uniqueness that has helped shape the world today. Frank will present this subject in a very personal manner using his insight of history and culture of Central Europe. His experience living in the Czech Republic for nearly 20 years and frequent travel in the region will provide students with a close up experience of this exciting part of the world. This course runs for three weeks for an hour and a half each session.
